~ Never have I ever seen a black squirrel before. Sure I saw squirrels dressed bright orange in Kiev and plain grey in the USA, but never dressed in the black tuxedo.
I literally did not believe my daughter, when she said to look at a “black squirrel”. I thought she was a bit off for a second…And then….
Here this beauty is with the nut in her mouth
This happened during our Canada travel last month. Just getting around to posting these black cuties. The site of them left me fascinated.
Have an absolutely multicolored day, my dear friends, even with a trace of black 🙂

We had some black squirrels in Northern Lower Michigan. In fact, my younger brother trained one of them to eat out of his hand. He called him “Blackie,” of course:)

Yes, but I’m not sure how plentiful they were. Years later, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, we had mainly the skinny red ones and a few of the bushy-tailed grays.

That makes a lot of sense when you said you were in Canada, because I have them in the backyard here in BC! LOL
Also do you know that when I lived in Ontario, and I worked Toronto’s downtown in one of the hospitals, we had a whole family of albino squirrels!!! The hospital was surrounded by trees, and they live there for generations. Many people used to come by the hospital just to see them since they are so rare! 🙂

We have lots and lots of them here in Northwest Indiana. Our house is in the woods so we enjoy not only grey squirrels, pineys, red squirrels, and black squirrels.
Supposedly the black squirrels have been migrating further south the more they breed and become populated in certain areas.
Great shot! Thanks for sharing.
