Heading into winter, the evenings tend to get a little cooler and the daylight is a bit shorter, especially now that the clocks have gone back.
That means spending time out in the garden or outside could be less comfortable. Instead of avoiding outdoors altogether, here are few ideas to enjoy your space as the nights draw in and the cooler air starts to settle.
Stay Warm And Cozy
How about an outdoor firepit? Rather than relying on your electric heaters, blankets, and heavy coats, maybe using an old-fashioned fire in a contemporary design could be the way to go. A glowing fire can be a mesmerizing display of color in the dark, leaving you feeling warm and mystified. Finishing up an evening dinner with family and friends and gathering near the fire outside sounds like a great way to continue entertaining outdoors. Glowing fire tongues promote a romantic atmosphere and even if you are enjoying your evening solo, treating yourself to this relaxing display might ignite an inner muse within you. Find out more here about the different fire pit options. This is certainly one outdoor addition that I might add to my backyard this winter after all.
Feet Up and Relax
If the weather is not such an issue but you are all BBQ’d out from the Summer months, relaxing and releasing the pressure of what comes every winter during the festive season is a wonderful idea. After switching gears from shopping, cooking, visiting friends and family, now you just want to put your feet up and enjoy the cool evenings with shining flickering stars. Well, there are a few things that are as relaxing as a nice soak in a hot tub. Feet up, drink in hand and the bubbles massaging the stress away from all those queues and bargain hunting. That sounds so good to me. Here is a handy hot tub comparison list will help you find whatever suits your needs.
Winter Gardening
Finally, don’t let your hard work over the Summer months go to waste. We have talked a lot about what to do in the evenings but during the day the garden still needs to be tendered. Gardening in the winter months in a mild climate can be the perfect opportunity to grow some of those vegetables that can not survive the Summer heat. Crops like broccoli, kale, bok choy, lettuce, peas, spinach, arugula, chard, radish, and carrots are excellent for this time of year. I have great success with the Winter planting, here in Florida. It is a busy season for us, Southern gardeners, while the rest of fellow outdoors lovers can safely relax.
Using your garden year round is something you have earned the right to do. Don’t just sow your crops in the spring ready for the summer and watch them wilt in fall. That outside space is yours to enjoy and no season should be allowed to dictate how much!
Make it a cozy and comfy day, my dear friends.

I don’t use my yard much in the winter, but it is nice to still be able to get out there when the weather isn’t too cold and enjoy the greenery that is still around.

There is one activity you mentioned on your post that we enjoy here in the north is a regular trip to the local hot springs where we can relax and blow away the winter blues.

Oh, really? That must be phenominal. Do you go often, Peter? What is the name of that place?

There are actually several hot springs in our area. The one we go to most often is located near Nakusp, BC. Have a great weekend, Luda!

Fire pits are really a great idea and I had no idea about winter gardening, I though everything went idle in the winter when it came to vegetation. Great post Luda❤️❤️

Great article. My wife just retired after 45+ years of paying taxes and the first thing she bought was a hot tub. She deserved it after all that time.
