Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
~Mark Twain~
What a blessing it is to experience random acts of kindness. Kindness passes on and influences humanity in the most serene ways. Every small act of kindness we perform has the potential to make a huge difference in someone’s life. I can’t forget the recent Trader Joe’s experience that made a very lasting impression on my soul and heart and wants to share it with you.
An hour was left until afternoon school carpool pick up. Rushing into Trader Joe’s, I stopped at the shelf of the newly added Almond Milk to select the best option with no super chemicals added. Carefully reading the ingredients, I heard a voice to the side of me: “What is your verdict”. Turning towards the voice, I was greeted by the tall man who was curious to see which almond milk would suit my family’s needs best. My pick still lies with Whole Food’s Almond milk, for it seems healthiest in terms of all the additives. That is what I shared with him. He thanked me and moved on. Later on, I picked up Goat’s milk, that I love to add to my coffee and saw this man in the aisle. Coming up to him, I showed him my other go-to choice and he smiled, saying that he already consumes this too. This was the end of our in-store interaction.
Waiting at the checkout register, the grey clouds did not spare us and it started to downpour. Florida rainy season is here and we feel it first-hand every single day.
After the payment, I moved on to the exit, thinking how in the world will I get all the groceries safely, without dropping them to the floor through soaking wet bags in the car in this monsoon.
At the very exit, the man who drinks the same milk appeared with an overly large umbrella, coming towards me. I was perplexed, but to my amazement, he asked, if he can offer a dry shopping cart ride for me towards my car. Now, in this day, angry social media exposure and G-d knows what else out there, this shocking act of kindness, made me so very surprised. Never in a million years, would I expect anyone to do this for me. (When I told my husband, even he, the most well-mannered and caring man, said, he could not have considered doing this). So I decided to say yes but warned him that he will get all wet in doing so. He nodded that he is aware of that and brought my shopping cart and helped me towards my car.
I have to say that this was the kindest thing I experienced from a stranger in a long time. Moreover, I told him so and positively reinforced him on being a true gentleman and still being a true man: being proper, kind and exercising amazing manners in this cruel and unfair world that we all are exposed to now, especially with what is broadcasted in all over the internet and news. I told him that I was amazed that he carried himself to such elevated human status and will be forever an example to my son and daughter, to not accept or exercise anything less than such behavior. This man said, yes there are still some of us in this world that practice kindness and I was truly grateful for such an inspiring forever vision of him to share with the world.
This angel of a man was a stellar example of kindness, male’s portrayal of how to carry themselves in today’s society and plain simply, how to be human. Yes, I have a functioning body and could have done all of the grocery loading myself, but the extra touch of unexpected care will never be forgotten.
If you are wondering, the umbrella did not help, we were soaking wet from the wet storm and flood was covering our feet. But in the midst of adversity, there is a spark of hope. In the midst of chaos, there is an organized creation, where the human spirit still will prevail and kindness will carry us forward.
I decided to write this piece, for there is not enough positive news and events shared in the universe. We see only dramatically negative, depressing, no hope, tearing up the heart-shocking news thrown at us. What if there would be media that only broadcasted acts of kindness? Would the world be any different?
Hope your day is filled with kindness,

This has really made my day. Kindness is so important, in this world of selfish people and harness. I am pleased you praised the gentleman for his kindness and he accepted graciously. People always belittle men in their actions. I do not find this so. Beautiful photos as always Luda, Bless you, kindness begets kindness.

Soooo with you on that, dear Nanette. So grateful you read and commented. I think men have it very tough nowadays and perhaps great examples need to be illuminated.🤗🌷🌸🌷🤗

Kindness is a sign of a person who has done a lot of work on his/her own self and has come to a phase of great self understanding. This brings him/her the wisdom of understanding other person’s problem and perspective. They choose to be kind over being right hence they are always right because kindness is a sign of strength.

My husband, who is a kind and thoughtful man, feels the disgust projected at ‘men’ in general these days deeply so it is gratifying to read your piece. Of course there are men who do wrong, but so many men are decent people and I think they feel cast adrift by the current generalisations made by women towards them.

You are so right! The men in my life are all wonderful human beings and I would be lost without them. Just thought I’d put that out there because I, too, feel that men are no longer respected in today’s society. I care about the plight of women but I also care about the plight of men.

Nancy, we are so alike. We can’t be without each other and yet people try to survive without the opposit gender, trying to full nature….. Would love to see other women praise amazing, deserving men. Instead of trashing them, give credit where its due, so others would have noble examples to live up to. Thank you so much for your wonderful thoughts.

I am sooooo happy to read your reflection and trully appreicate the feedback. Wasn’t sure if this write up wass even appropriate, but we have to give credit where its due. Thank you very much for your support and for loving encouragment of the deserving male figures to continue setting the right example to us, future generations and our kids, for crying outloud.

A beautiful story dear friend! I agree with you, I think the news only give us “bad news’ terror, horror, fear, oppression, crime, violence, to the point where we lose our perspective, forgetting that out of 7 billion people living on planet earth, the majority of the people live normal lives, go to work, care for their families, and the world is not such a bad place after all! It’s only a small amount of people that are criminals. When the big head lines only focus on terror, we need to focus on kindness, inspiration, goodwill, love and light! Thank you for this beautiful post!!!! ❤
